Trans-nasal implants are the most advanced of the remote-anchorage procedures Suncoast offers. They're long titanium implants placed through the nasal floor (the bone separating your mouth and nose) to reach denser, more reliable bone above. They're used in cases of severe upper-jaw bone loss where neither conventional placement, sinus lifts, zygomatic implants, nor trans-sinus implants are appropriate.

Trans-nasal placement is rare. Most patients with severe maxillary atrophy can be treated with zygomatic and pterygoid implants combined with conventional placements, or with trans-sinus implants for specific anatomies. Trans-nasal is reserved for the most challenging cases — patients whose anatomy doesn't allow any of the other approaches, or patients who have had multiple previous failures.

Because of the surgical complexity and the precision required to thread an implant through the nasal floor safely, trans-nasal placement is always performed under on-site general anesthesia delivered by an anesthesiologist from London Health Sciences Centre, with CBCT-planned custom surgical guides and X-Nav navigated surgery.

Trans-nasal cases are more complex than other remote-anchorage procedures. Most follow this sequence over 6 to 9 months from consultation to permanent restoration.

Surgery under general anesthesia

Procedure under on-site GA delivered by a London Health Sciences Centre anesthesiologist. X-Nav navigation guides placement in real time. Typically 3–5 hours depending on combination with other procedures.

Same-day or delayed temporary teeth

Fixed temporary teeth are attached the same day when initial stability allows it. In some cases temporaries are added a few weeks later.

Healing and permanent prosthesis

3 to 6 months of healing while implants integrate. Permanent full-arch restoration is fitted afterward. Long-term follow-up at regular intervals.
