All-on-X is the umbrella term for full-arch implant restorations where the number of implants is tailored to your case. The X is a placeholder — depending on your bone, anatomy, and bite, your treatment plan might call for 4 implants (All-on-4), 5, 6, or more. More implants generally mean more stability and better load distribution; fewer implants are used when bone or anatomy makes additional placements difficult.
The procedure follows the same protocol as All-on-4. Implants are surgically placed in a single visit, fixed temporary teeth are typically attached the same day, and a permanent prosthesis is fitted after 3 to 6 months of healing. Surgical guides are designed and 3D-printed in our on-site SprintRay lab, and X-Nav navigated surgery is available for sub-millimeter precision on complex cases.
If your bone is severely compromised and even more implants aren't enough, zygomatic implants or other remote-anchorage solutions can still make full-arch restoration possible. The All-on-X consultation explores all the options together.
Choosing between All-on-4 and All-on-X usually isn't an academic exercise — it's determined by what your CBCT scan shows. Patients with good bone in multiple sites often do well with 5 or 6 implants. Patients with thinner bone in specific areas may benefit from 4 well-placed implants plus a zygomatic at the back. We'll walk through the imaging with you and explain why we're recommending a specific count for your case, with no pressure to upgrade or downgrade.
