Clear aligners — straightening teeth without braces

ClearCorrect clear aligners straighten teeth without metal brackets or wires. We use ClearCorrect specifically — a Straumann product — because Dr. Larsen lectures for Straumann and has deep familiarity with their technology and clinical protocols. Most cases finish in 6 to 18 months depending on complexity.

What ClearCorrect is

A series of clear plastic trays, custom-made for your teeth

ClearCorrect is a clear-aligner orthodontic system made by Straumann. Each treatment is a series of custom-made plastic trays — each one slightly different from the last — that gradually move your teeth into the planned position. You wear each tray for 1 to 2 weeks (typically 22 hours per day), then switch to the next. Over the full series, your teeth move into their final position. The whole process is digitally planned upfront from an intraoral scan, so you can see the projected end result before committing.

We use ClearCorrect rather than other clear-aligner brands for two reasons. First, Dr. Larsen is a lecturer for Straumann — which means continuous involvement in the clinical evolution of their products and protocols. Second, ClearCorrect's treatment planning and tray design integrate cleanly with the digital workflows we already use for crowns, surgical guides, and other restorations. Aligner treatment fits inside our broader digital practice rather than running on a separate platform.

Clear aligners work well for a wide range of orthodontic problems: mild to moderate crowding, spacing between teeth, crossbite correction, bite issues, and pre-restorative tooth movement (moving teeth into better position before placing a crown or bridge). They don't work for every case — severely complex orthodontics, certain bite issues, or growing children with major skeletal issues are sometimes better served by traditional braces or referral to a specialist orthodontist. We'll be honest at the consultation about whether ClearCorrect is the right fit for your case.

What to expect

Your ClearCorrect treatment, end to end

Most adult clear-aligner cases follow a similar sequence over 6 to 18 months from start to finish.

1

Consultation and digital scan

Free consultation, intraoral scan, photos, and discussion of your goals. We confirm whether ClearCorrect is suitable for your case and outline what's possible.

2

Treatment planning and preview

Digital plan generated showing planned tooth movement and end result. You see a 3D preview of where your teeth will be at the end before any tray is made. Plan refined together.

3

Tray manufacturing and delivery

The full series of custom trays is manufactured. First trays delivered at your appointment with instructions on how long to wear each one and when to switch.

4

Active treatment with check-ins

You wear each tray about 22 hours per day, switching to the next every 1–2 weeks. Brief check-ins every 6–8 weeks confirm progress is on track and adjustments are made if needed.

5

Retainers after treatment

Once active treatment is finished, retainers maintain the result. Without retainers, teeth gradually relapse over years. We discuss retention options at the end of active treatment.

Clear aligners — frequently asked

Common questions about ClearCorrect at Suncoast.

Both are clinically established clear-aligner systems. We use ClearCorrect because it's a Straumann product, and Dr. Larsen is a Straumann lecturer — meaning continuous involvement with the manufacturer's clinical evolution. Outcomes are comparable for most cases; the choice is about clinical familiarity and integration with our digital workflow.
Most cases run 6 to 18 months. Simple cases (minor crowding, spacing) can finish in 6 months. Moderate cases typically run 9 to 12 months. Complex cases can run 18 months or more. We'll give you a specific projection at the consultation.
Mild discomfort or pressure for the first 1 to 3 days of each new tray as your teeth respond to the new force. Most patients describe it as awareness rather than pain, easily managed with over-the-counter pain medication if needed. The discomfort settles as your teeth move into position.
You take the trays out for meals — that's part of why aligners are comfortable. After eating, brush your teeth and the trays before putting them back in. Avoid drinking anything other than water with the trays in (especially anything sugary or coloured, which can stain the trays and your teeth).
Most adult orthodontic treatment, including ClearCorrect, is typically not covered by basic CDCP or basic private insurance. Some private plans with orthodontic riders do cover part of the cost — usually with lifetime maximums. We predetermine benefits before treatment so you know your out-of-pocket cost.
