How we think about patient care

Comprehensive, transparent, no-surprise

Most patients come to Suncoast through one of three doors: they need a specific procedure (an implant, a sedation case, an emergency), they're switching from another practice for a fresh start, or they're a brand-new patient looking for ongoing dental care. The information in this section covers all three.

What ties everything together is transparency on costs, coverage, and what to expect. We predetermine insurance and CDCP benefits before larger treatment so you know your out-of-pocket cost in writing before any procedure starts. We offer financing for larger cases like All-on-X full-arch restorations. We accept patients with no judgment about how long it's been since your last visit. And our building is fully wheelchair accessible — we regularly treat patients with mobility needs from surrounding elderly homes.

Each subpage below covers one piece of the patient experience. Start with new patients if you're booking your first visit, financing & payment if cost is the big question, insurance if you want to understand direct billing, forms if you'd like to fill paperwork in advance, or privacy & accessibility for how we handle your information and accommodate specific needs.

From booking through your first visit

Most new-patient visits follow the same straightforward sequence — here's what to expect end to end.

1

Book by phone or online

Call (226) 22SMILE or book through our website. Mention any specific concerns when you book so we allocate the right time and the right dentist for your case.

2

Receive intake forms

We email or text the digital new-patient intake form on request — fill it from home before your visit, or complete it in the waiting area when you arrive.

3

Bring what you have

Insurance details or CDCP confirmation, any recent dental imaging from previous practices, a list of medications, and any specific concerns or goals you want to discuss.

4

Free consultation

The first visit is typically a no-pressure conversation, examination, and treatment-planning discussion. Routine cleanings and exams can often happen in the same visit if you're booking a regular checkup.

5

Coverage and cost in writing

For any larger treatment, we predetermine benefits with your insurance and provide a written cost estimate before scheduling. No surprise bills after you leave.

Patient information — frequently asked

Common questions across the patient experience.

Yes — we're always welcoming new patients. Free first consultations, direct billing for most insurance plans and CDCP, and our team helps eligible patients apply for CDCP if they're not yet enrolled.
No. Suncoast accepts direct bookings for everything we do — including oral surgery, implants, sedation cases, and complex restorative work. If your previous dentist has referred you, we coordinate with them; if you're booking on your own, we work directly with you.
Major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), debit, and bank transfer. For insured patients, direct billing where the carrier allows it. For larger cases, we offer payment plans through financing partners.
Yes — patients on blood thinners, those with cardiac conditions, diabetics, patients with sleep apnea, and others. For especially complex cases, the option of on-site general anesthesia with a London Health Sciences Centre anesthesiologist means we can do work safely that would otherwise require a hospital admission.
Common, and entirely valid. We have a full sedation menu from nitrous oxide for mild cases up to on-site GA for severe phobia. See our dental anxiety page for how we handle anxious patients specifically.
