We direct-bill most major insurance providers and CDCP so you don't pay the full bill upfront and wait for reimbursement. We predetermine benefits before larger procedures so you know exactly what's covered. Our team also helps patients who aren't enrolled in CDCP but think they're eligible.
Most patients with private dental insurance can use direct billing at Suncoast. That means we submit the claim to your insurance carrier on the day of treatment and you pay only the patient portion (deductible, copay, or any uncovered services). You don't pay the full bill upfront and wait weeks for reimbursement. This works for the major insurers — Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Green Shield, GroupSource, Equitable Life, and others. Some smaller or specialty plans require you to pay and submit for reimbursement; we'll let you know at the consultation.
For CDCP patients, we direct-bill the covered portion through Sun Life (the CDCP claims administrator). You pay any copay or uncovered services at the visit. CDCP coverage varies by treatment — see our what's covered page for specifics on routine, preventive, restorative, and major services.
For larger or more involved procedures, we recommend a predetermination of benefits — a written confirmation from your insurance carrier of exactly what they'll cover before treatment is scheduled. This eliminates surprises. We initiate the predetermination on your behalf, the insurer typically responds within 1 to 2 weeks, and we review the response with you before proceeding. For implants, full-arch restorations, sedation, and cosmetic cases, this is standard practice.
Direct billing means we file the claim for you and you pay only your portion. Here's the typical sequence.
When you book, share your insurance carrier, policy number, and group number. For CDCP patients, share the eligibility confirmation. We verify whether direct billing is available with your plan.
For implants, full-arch cases, sedation, or cosmetic plans, we submit a predetermination of benefits before scheduling. The insurer's written response confirms exactly what's covered.
On the day of treatment, we submit the insurance claim electronically. The carrier processes it in real time for most plans. We collect only your patient portion (deductible, copay, or uncovered services) at the visit.
For plans that don't allow real-time settlement, we bill the carrier directly and follow up on outstanding claims on your behalf. You're not asked to chase reimbursement yourself.
We help you stay aware of where you stand against your annual maximum, especially toward year-end. For patients with large treatment plans spanning multiple calendar years, we sometimes phase treatment to use benefits efficiently.
Send us your coverage information and our team will verify benefits, set up direct billing, and confirm what's covered before your visit. If you're eligible for CDCP but haven't enrolled yet, choose "Want help applying" below and we'll walk you through it. Prefer paper? Download the PDF instead.
